Join us on campus for a New Student Day!
New Student Days will begin with a welcome session. This will introduce you to members of our NCC faculty and enable you to interact in and experience the college classroom environment.
Next, we'll introduce you to Brightspace – NCC’s Learning Management System. Brightspace is widely used by NCC instructors for both in-person and online classes. You'll learn the essentials of navigating Brightspace, including participating in discussions, uploading documents, accessing course materials, and checking grades.
Last, you'll get to choose from the following sessions:
- Exploring Major and Career Options: Students undecided on their major or career path can join this session to discover strategies for choosing a major, including job shadowing, internships, involvement in campus life, and career assessments. Career Services will also showcase their online platform, Handshake.
- Student Life & Learning: This session focuses on ways to be successful outside of the classroom as well by getting involved. Student Life supports leadership opportunities, events, and clubs where you will do everything from networking to meeting lifelong friends! The Learning Center is a welcoming place where you will receive support to meet your Academic goals, including our writing lab and science centers, and individual tutoring.
- Diverse Students and Stories: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is an extremely important part of NCC. This session will begin with an overview and definition of DEI at NCC and include information about campus organizations and upcoming events focused on diversity and individual stories.
- Parent / Support System Session: We'll share important information and advice for how to support the NCC students in your lives.
